Bekal felt like a place where the coastline decided the pace of the trip. I did not need a packed itinerary, several activities or a long list of places to cover. The beaches around Bekal gave me enough variety while still allowing the days to remain simple and unhurried.
What I enjoyed most was how different each beach felt. Bekal Beach offered views of the fort, Pallikere Beach was convenient for relaxed walks, and Kappil Beach felt quieter and more remote. Together, they made Bekal a good choice for travellers who prefer spending more time in fewer places.
Bekal Beach blends coast and history
Bekal Beach was the first place where I understood why the destination suited slow travel. The beach sits close to Bekal Fort, so I could enjoy the sea and the area’s best-known landmark during the same outing. The fort beside the Arabian Sea gave the beach a strong sense of place.
I did not feel the need to visit quickly and move on. I could walk along the shore, stop to look towards the fort and sit by the water for as long as I wanted. The experience was simple, but it never felt empty or dull.

Pallikere Beach was spacious, peaceful and convenient enough to fit into my plans for the day. Situated near Bekal Fort, it allowed me to avoid long travelling times. I could stop there after finishing my excursion to the fort or come back later when it was not so hot.

Kappil Beach gave me a different experience from the busier area near Bekal Fort. It felt more secluded, with fewer distractions and a wider sense of space. The quieter setting made it suitable for a slow walk and some uninterrupted time beside the sea.
I visited Kappil Beach without planning anything beyond the journey itself. There was no need to search for entertainment or organise several activities. The open coastline, sea views and peaceful surroundings were enough to make the visit worthwhile.
Bekal’s mornings begin at the beach
Mornings worked particularly well for exploring Bekal’s beaches. The weather felt more comfortable, the surroundings were quieter, and I could walk without thinking about the afternoon heat. Starting the day by the sea helped me settle into a slower routine.
I also liked that a morning beach visit did not need to last for several hours. I could walk, sit for a while and return to my accommodation for breakfast or rest. The day remained open rather than becoming controlled by a strict plan.

The beaches were exquisite in the evening. With the gentle colours of the lights, the weather being pleasant, and the entire ambience becoming soothing, among the many places that I had visited in the evening, Bekal Beach was by far the most beautiful, with the fort by the sea.
Returning to this place in the evening, I was relieved that I did not need to rush through it all. The beach had shown me how the sea changes by the tide and the visitors through the day.
Bekal’s beachside stays support slower travel
While looking at hotels in Bekal, I paid close attention to the location. Staying near Bekal Beach or Pallikere Beach made it easier to go out early, return during the warmer hours and visit the coast again in the evening.
This reduced the need for long daily journeys or fixed transport plans. I could decide how long to remain at each beach based on the weather and how I felt. That freedom helped the trip remain calm and comfortable.

Bekal Beach, Pallikere Beach, and Kappil Beach proved to have their own reasons for slowing me down. Bekal Beach incorporated the views of the sea along with the fort, Pallikere Beach offered comfortable walking, and Kappil Beach gave a more organised seaside experience.

I would not need any more beaches or more activities to make my journey feel accomplished. The diversity was enough to keep every day interesting, whilst the distance between each of the places made sure I did not waste too much time travelling.

Bekal worked best when I stopped thinking about how much I could cover. The beaches were not simply stops on an itinerary. They were places where I could spend time, return later and enjoy the coast without needing constant entertainment.
